{"id":368,"date":"2011-08-09T19:33:06","date_gmt":"2011-08-09T23:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/poland.leonkonieczny.com\/blog\/?p=368"},"modified":"2011-08-09T19:33:06","modified_gmt":"2011-08-09T23:33:06","slug":"6-days-and-counting-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/poland.leonkonieczny.com\/blog\/?p=368","title":{"rendered":"6 Days and Counting down&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yes, only six days from now and I will be back in Poland. I was reflecting on that today and realized that in my last post yesterday, I forgot a huge chunk of what I hope to experience, and that is the food of Poland. Last time I was there I totally enjoyed the food (and drink) and I&#8217;m sure this time will be on a par with that, maybe even wildly exceed it.<\/p>\n<p>Some of what I hope to experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Home Cooking. Maybe I&#8217;ll even have the chance to help and maybe learn something. And at the very least I know how to chop stuff and can do the dishes<\/li>\n<li>New Foods (perhaps prepared in old ways). I&#8217;m sure there are dishes I&#8217;ve never had before. I don&#8217;t think i tried\u00a0<em>nale\u015bniki <\/em>(at least not savory ones) last time. There may be other dishes as well. I&#8217;d like to try new foods.<\/li>\n<li>Old Foods (perhaps prepared in new ways). I had the best mushrooms and mushroom sauce ever last year in Poland. I&#8217;m sure I can have equally good or better this time. And what else? There are many foods that I&#8217;d love to experience with maybe a Polish twist to them.<\/li>\n<li>Pierogi. Need I say more. This is food of the gods, definitely.<\/li>\n<li>Bigos. All I can say is &#8220;yumm.&#8221; There are so many varieties, and each I&#8217;m sure will be wonderful.<\/li>\n<li>Ukrainian Food. I&#8217;ve never had much besides varenyky (\u0432\u0430\u0440\u0435\u043d\u0438\u043a\u0438). Now is the time! I remember having these years and years ago at the International Folk Festival in Milwaukee. Wonderful. And I&#8217;m sure there&#8217;s more.<\/li>\n<li>Polish beer and Polish Vodka. Oh yeah!<\/li>\n<li>Kie\u0142basa, kabunosy, and other smoked delicacies<\/li>\n<li>Oscypek and other Polish cheeses. I love cheese of all type.<\/li>\n<li>Vegetables and Fruits. It will be great to taste whatever is in season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And so much more. Yumm, I am getting hungry now.
