Three Weeks from Today

At this moment in three weeks, I’ll be high above the Atlantic Ocean, on my way back to Poland. What a dream this is, and one that will come to pass.

I was so fortunate to meet my cousin Alicja on the Internet several years ago. And then fortune smiled on us and we met last year in Gdańsk and she and her husband invited me to visit, so I will. I will spend about a week in the Gdańsk area where we have many family, and we will spend about two weeks traveling around Poland and Ukraine, seeing many great sights and also visiting family in Ukraine where our common ancestors originally lived, and where we still have family.

So in the meantime I am preparing. I have been diligently trying to learn some Polish, and I’m sure I can speak a few phrases of broken Polish when I’m there–actually, i know quite a few words, but getting them right will be my challenge. Still, i think I’ll be able to communicate fine.

So I have started making my lists, getting ready to pack, reading about some of the places we will visit. It is all good and I am very excited. And of course I will be updating my blog whenever I am able to when I am there. I do not know what my Internet connectivity may be, but I will prepare entries and upload them whenever I’m able to fine a WiFi connection. God knows I was able to do so at a McDonald’s in Kraków my last time there.

And I am sure this will not be my last visit to Poland. However, I am looking foward to Alicja and her family to come here for a visit in the near future. I will show them a very good time, too.
