Tonight I met and was entertained by Jacek Kawalec. If you don’t live in Poland, you may know know who I am talking about. But Jacek Kawalec is a famous Polish Actor. Some years ago, he was in the Polish version of Dancing with the Stars and this September he will begin filming the fifth set of 13 episodes of a serial television program that is popular on Polish Television, Ranczo.
So how did this come to be? Well, I am attending a series of Polish classes, every Wednesday night in Poland. His wife is a friend of our class teacher, Kasia, since they were three years old. Jacek was in Orlando with his 13-year old son and his mother (from Chicago) to visit. And so we were graced by his presence tonight.
He did some acting, a selection from a one-person show, and some singing, both in Polish and English. First time I ever heard the song “Lucille” in Polish! It was very entertaining, he talked a lot about film and theater and TV and even music and culture in Poland. It was a very pleasant time and he was most gracious.
